Hadaa Sendoo lives in Ulan Bator, where he is Professor of Literature at the Mongolian National University. He has received many awards, including: the Poet of the Millennium award, the Best Poet prize, the Literature Achievement award, and the Poetry Merit award. In 2006, he founded World Poetry Almanac; in 2008 he was recipient of the Giants of Creativity award, and in 2009, of the Mongolian Writers’ Union Prize.

Born in London in 1943 in a family of musicians. He has lived in Italy, Greece, the USA and Yugoslavia. He deals equally with historical and political material, with inner worlds, and with relationships and everyday life. In the 1970's, he founded and ran the international Cambridge Poetry Festival. His work has been translated into 18 languages.

Spring Rain

春雨

Longing for summer

tonight rain spreads across the sky
attacking dry branches  
                                
So that withered flowers may bloom
spring waters have flooded the riverbed

but white hair can’t turn green
and staring up at the stars
the old well dies
    

苦苦地等待着夏季
