The Red Maple

The red maple with radiant leaves stands upright beside my house. Its leaves passionately expressing their love aided by a gentle breeze. For years, they saw my daughters come and go, meeting the challenges of life, As they move forward in rain, in sunshine, in moonlight and in snow. The maple tree holds trembling leaves together, Bearing the pain and the pressure life brings. Who can say that there is no loneliness? I hear an inner sigh! Who can say that there is no brokenness? I feel hurt! Only the Maker of the maple knows the heart, And feels the suffering that endures to earth’s end. I do not regret seeing the maple leaves fall... It teaches me to let go and live anew. Where are the country and the community I love? In the heart where there is wisdom, In the kingdom where there is grace, In the home where there is compassion. Maple, maple, maple, my red maple: You have stirred my thoughts beyond where my mind could imagine. Anchor my thoughts on the foundation of reality that Awakens me, really live and dream again.
