It is a young horse. Its swelling muscles Roll under beautiful brown fur ¨C the road here is Locked in by the mountains, wildness and beauty locked in the stable. Its eyes big and mild, its eyelids long and dense, When your dark pupils meet, a wisp of sorrow (shackled power) sinks to the bottom of your heart. It does not remember how to leave its mother. It does not feel lonely, (a taciturn cow also lives the stable, and enthusiastic gadflies) It does not look up at the birds flitting through sky. Clouds running behind treetops and over the hills. It has never missed distant peaks, Nor the road passing beyond the peaks into the horizon. (The wild daisy and clover dance the female "trample hall¡± on the road.) It does not remember how to run. (The wind is wailing in its ears) It does not understand freedom. (Reins are its natal gift given by humans) --Oh who can help me declare it? Before God and the universe, life lives equal. (If animals cannot, at least, humans can) It trusts in this scorched land, the familiar urgent cry, The plough, the packing, loyal and obedient, mating to the master's whip And watchful eye. Gasping for breath It delivers on everything it owes, It has never dreamed of killing. (Perhaps, this was the fate of its old mother.)
