The Region of Rivers and Lakes at Night

When night came my eyes opened wide something inside refused to sleep That winter night a black dog barked in the east of the village, and dried stalks of reed trembled at the waterside. The sounds mixed louder. I still could not sleep. I thumbed through the biography of the region written by the Lixiahe with its countless rivers and nameless waters. And though my ears were tuned to the hustle and bustle of city I heard the faintest sound of the country.
