Jack Hirschman 杰克-赫希曼
Jack Hirschman, a famous American poet, was born in New York in 1933 and received his PhD from the Indiana University in 1961. His poetry works show his shining youth of the "Beat Generation". He has published more than one hundred poetry books, including London Seen Directly (1967), Black Alephs (1979), Endless Threshold (1992), The Back of a Spoon (1992),Likeunto (2000), Front Line (2002), most of them have been translated into nine languages including French, Spanish, Italian published all over the world. He was the city's poet laureate for four consecutive years (2006-2009). In recent years, he was invited by Chinese poet Jidi Majia to attend "the 5th and 6th Ginghai Lake International Poetry Festivals in China" (2015, 2019).
杰克·赫希曼,美国著名诗人,1933年出生于美国纽约,1961年获印第安纳大学博士学位,其诗歌作品呈现“垮掉的一代”曾经熠熠生辉的青春。赫希曼一生出版包括《直视伦敦》(1967)、《布莱克·阿列夫》(1979)、《无尽的门槛》(1992),《勺子的背面》(1992),《仿佛》(2000)、《前线》(2002)在内一百多部诗集,大部分被翻译成法语、西班牙语、意大利语等九种语言在世界各地出版。他曾连续四年(2006-2009)荣获旧金山市“桂冠诗人”称号;近年来应中国诗人吉狄马加之邀出席“第5-6届中国青海湖国际诗歌节”(2015, 2019)。

海岸 Hai An
海岸,诗人、翻译家,1965年出生于浙江台州,现供职于复旦大学外文学院,复旦中澳创意写作中心/复旦文学翻译研究中心成员,上海翻译家协会“STA翻译成就奖”获得者。著有诗集《海岸诗选》、《海岸短诗选》、《挽歌》(长诗)、《蝴蝶·蜻蜓》(欧洲,2019)、《失落的技艺》(澳洲,2020),译有《狄兰·托马斯诗选》(2002, 2014, 2015)《流水光阴——杰曼·卓根布鲁特诗选》、《贝克特全集:诗集》(合译),编有《中西诗歌翻译百年论集》《中国当代诗歌前浪》(合编,双语版)《归巢与启程:中澳当代诗选》(合编,双语版,2018)等。曾应邀参加“第48届马其顿斯特鲁加国际诗歌之夜”(2009)、“复旦-科廷中澳创意写作坊”(2016-2018)等海内外诗歌活动。
Hai An, Chinese scholarly-poet and translator, originally named Dingjun Li was born in 1965 in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, was the winner of STA Translation Achievements Award issued by Shanghai Translator Association. He is the Associate Professor at College of Foreign Languages and Literatures, as well as the research scholar of Literary Translation Research Center / China-Australia Creative Writing Center, Fudan University. He has published more than ten books of poetry as the author, translator and editor, including Selected Poems by Hai An (Beijing: 2001), Selected Short Poems by Hai An (Hong Kong: 2003), Elegy: Hai An’s First Therapeutic Long Poem (Taiwan: 2012), A Butterfly & A Dragonfly (Europe: 2019), When, Like a Running Grave: A Critical Approach to Dylan Thomas’s Poetry and its Translation (Shanghai, 2019); Selected Poems of Dylan Thomas (2002, 2014, 2015), Collected Poems of Samuel Beckett (co-translator, 2016),Front Line: Selected Poems of Jack Hirschman (2019), and many others. He was once invited to attend several international poetry festivals, including the 48th International Poetry Evening in Struga, Macedonia (2009) and China-Australia Creative Writing Workshops at Fudan and Curtin University (2016-2018).

In the beginning I was soused with words, the page wasn't wide
enough to hold my spillover, I ran and ran and the puns and
brash brandy flew out of my mouth slant rhymed.
In time I looked at her. The lines
broke. Look at mine, look at hers. And neither died of it.
That Irishman, they say, sang best
at seventy-seven.
It isn't easy
to write the word, love,
and mean it
to speak open.

They would go in deep night before the ants were awake
with an empty sack and another with burning coals.
They would stuff the branches where the ants were sleeping,
into the empty sack, scrape them down,
and pour them into the sack with the burning coals.
The legs and pincers would come loose in the heat.
Back in camp, they would empty the tiny bodies
on a mat of leather, wash them clean with water,
and with flour and hot water make a gravy
which would cool into a pudding by daybreak.
A hundred years later, this ant pudding can still
rise off the ground or a modern table
and fling itself at the face of any fucking Nazi

他们会在蚂蚁醒来前进入深夜
背一只空袋子,另一只装烧炭。
