余光中（1928年10月—2017年12月），当代著名作家、诗人、学者、翻译家，出生于南京，祖籍福建永春。先后任教台湾东吴大学、台湾师范大学、台湾大学、台湾政治大学。两度赴美国多家大学任客座教授。已出版诗集 21 种；散文集 11 种；评论集 5 种；翻译集 13 种。

Yu Kwang-chung (October 1928-December 2017) is a famous contemporary writer, poet, scholar and translator, born in Nanjing and his ancestral home is Yongchun, Fujian. He taught at Taiwan normal University, Taiwan University and Taiwan political University and a number of American universities as a visiting professor. He has published 21 books of poetry, 11 prose collections, 5 critical collections, 13 translation collections.

小时候
乡愁是一枚小小的邮票
我在这头
母亲在那头

长大后
乡愁是一张窄窄的船票
我在这头
新娘在那头

后来啊
乡愁是一方矮矮的坟墓
我在外头
母亲在里头

而现在
乡愁是一湾浅浅的海峡
我在这头
大陆在那头
			

When I was young
Nostalgia was a tiny stamp
Me on this side
Mother on the other side

When I grew up
Nostalgia was a narrow boat ticket
Me on this side
My bride on the other side

But later on
Nostalgia was a lowly grave
Me on the outside
Mother on the inside

And at present
Nostalgia becomes a shallow strait
Me on this side
Mainland on the other side
